BCCI chief Manohar dials Shaharyar, assures full security to Pakistan

"The Pakistan cricket team can be allowed to visit India only after a guarantee of foolproof security", Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that foolproof security for the team was a responsibility of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur on Thursday has clarified that the much disputed World T20 clash between India and Pakistan in Dharamsala is on schedule in spite of the fact that the Himachal Pradesh government had expressed its inability to provide security for the match.

Talking about Pakistan's attempt to re-establish Indo-Pakistan cricket relations, Mani was quoted saying, "The Pakistan government has also shown it believes in having cricketing relations with India but I would think playing in Dharamsala in this environment would be risky for the Pakistan team".

Hosting of match would help in promoting the state as it would be telecast live in 220 countries. I haven't taken anyone's advice yet.

In a series of tweets, Imran Khan also criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for promoting anti-merit policy in appointment of PCB chief. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Bangladesh vs Pakistan, Asia Cup T20 2016, Match 8 at Dhaka.

Virbhadra's concerns were regarding the prevailing local sentiment in Himachal over recent terrorist attacks in Pathankot, which lies close to the Pakistan border near the intersection of the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Shahid Afridi & Co. will play India, once again, in their tournament opener on March 19 at Dharamsala. So we (BCCI) and the state government are making our best efforts to sort out the issue at the earliest.

"As far as BCCI is concerned, the India vs Pakistan match is on schedule in Dharamsala".

"It will be hard for the families of the martyrs and people of Himachal to see Pakistani flag fluttering at the stadium, which is at a stone's throw from the War Memorial". But at the same time, we can't bring politics to sports.

Indian cricket board secretary Anurag Thakur accused the state of playing politics and said the country regularly provided security for Pakistani sportsmen and women.

"I asked the Chief Minister that if there is a shortage of security personnel in HP, you can also take the help of central government".
