The "Maleficent" actress filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt last month and is seeking primary custody of their six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Sources from the Federal Bureau of Investigation told the website that the case should never have even been referred to them.

Well-placed law enforcement sources tell us the FBI never opened an investigation, and say the matter should never have even been referred to the agency.

The FBI is reportedly still gathering information on the matter, though the case is not expected to progress. Sources told Us weekly that the "World War Z" star, Jolie and their six children - Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - had been flying from Nice, France to Burbank, Calif. on September 14 and stopped to refuel at the International Falls Airport in Minnesota.

Brad had been accused of assaulting his son Maddox on a private jet, but witnesses have said that Brad had only inadvertently hit him, with Maddox suffering no injuries.

While the World War Z star has refused to become embroiled in a public war of words with his estranged wife, a friend of Brad Pitt earlier said that reports that the Hollywood star struck his son during an altercation are "exaggerated and fabricated".

Allegations last month claimed Pitt, seen here with Angelina Jolie, turned violent toward his son Maddox (left) during a flight.

Brad Pitt's child abuse investigation is about to be dropped by the FBI. "He will do whatever it takes to be with them, now and always", the source added. Reports say that Brad will also be required to voluntarily take random drug and alcohol tests.

There are no updates yet in regards to their divorce process as both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt chose to stay mum on their divorce proceedings.
