No. 7 Stanford rallies past UCLA 22-13

The penalty provided a crucial shift in momentum for the Cardinal, and Burns followed it up by completing 5 of his next 8 passes, culminating in his 8-yard toss to Arcega-Whiteside.

With over seventy thousand in attendance at the Rose Bowl, Rosen knew he had to take advantage to keep the home crowd buzzing.

This was a big test for Burns as the starting quarterback on the road.

"That's the controlled insanity of playing defense", McClure said.

At this point, Christian McCaffrey is the rare college athlete who needs no introduction to a general audience.

Stanford's offense couldn't create anything through the air against a UCLA defense that entered the evening ranked 57th in the FBS by allowing 214 passing yards per game.

Credit the Bruins defense for turning in another solid effort.

And it started by limiting McCaffrey, who can be as hard to contain as a rumor on the Internet. The senior has just two catches for 15 yards this season.

Burns didn't let the early interception rattle him and threw his only touchdown of the game when it mattered most.

Offensively, Stanford football is averaging 134.5 yards in passing and 203.5 yards in rushing.

It's a simple fact: Stanford doesn't need to win pretty to repeat as Pac-12 Conference champions. Join the Golden Gate Sports team! He and others try that play during slow moments in practice, when the Stanford quarterbacks and wide receivers work on timing and placement of the fade during special team periods.

Hillary Clinton Scores Arizona Republic Endorsement
And, of course, the Arizona Republic: " The 2016 Republican candidate is not conservative and he is not qualified . The Arizona Republic is endorsing a Democrat for president for the first time in 126 years.

But if the Bruins beat Stanford on Saturday, Rosen will be the primary reason. "[But this is] the kind of team we are - we're never going to give up; we're never going to back down".

"I'm proud of the way we played", said Mora, who is 0-6 against Shaw. His execution of the game winning drive shows his maturity and perseverance.

As Solomon Thomas rumbled into the end zone for a scoop-and-score with no time left on the clock, there undoubtedly were many people in the Rose Bowl still wondering, "What just happened?" Stanford rolled over UCLA from the first drive and the Cardinal was making plays left and right. After a three and out on the previous series, the defense was forced to make a stand. "We're really confident that we can get stops". If Rosen is constantly pressured and the running game is unable to get anything going, then it is going to be a rough game for UCLA. "I have to help them more by calling the plays". With less than 10 minutes left, the Golden Bears led 27-20, but then the fireworks began.

Burns was able to extend drives, but unable to find the end result of a touchdown.

Southern California's sluggish loss to Stanford a week ago prompted Trojans coach Clay Helton to switch quarterbacks.

As for UCLA, head coach Jim Mora noted the last-second loss was disappointing. He is coming off his eighth 300-yard passing game against BYU, leaving him just three shy of Cade McNown's school record. The Cardinal have defeated the Bruins eight straight times in the past seven years leading up to this matchup.

This time around, Mora had the personnel to pull off a big win.

Christian McCaffrey of Stanford makes a catch for a first down in front of Cameron Judge of UCLA on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016. A victory was in sight for Mora, but his team put in only three and half quarters of play.

There is still one nonconference game this week, but the slate also includes five Pac-12 matchups, including Friday night's game between USC and Utah in Salt Lake City.

Husky Stadium will be rocking as both teams are in the AP Top-10 rankings. Aggravating matters, after scoring to come within 49-48, Central Michigan went for two and the win-and failed. Washington, however, will look to assert themselves into the conversation with a victory.
