The Legoland amusement park and resort in Winter Haven, Florida was evacuated on Thursday due to a bomb threat, park officials said in a statement on Twitter.

Additionally, Legoland announced that the park and hotel would be closed for the rest of the day.

"Earlier today, a bomb threat was discovered on our property".

Police spokeswoman Jamie Brown said there haven't been any reported injuries. The Polk County Sheriff's Office and officials from the state fire marshal's office are helping police search the park. We are working closely with Winter Haven PD to assess the validity of the threat.

NOAA manages the GOES series of satellites and the NASA/NOAA GOES Project creates images and animations from the data. Last week another hurricane, Matthew, strafed the Caribbean and USA east coast, hitting Haiti as a Category 4 storm.

Legoland has not released specific details about the bomb threat itself. This is the first known evacuation of the park since it's opening in 2011. "At this time, we believe this is a hoax, but we take all threats seriously", he said.

Legoland Florida said its number one priority is the safety and security of its guests.

After being closed for over five hours, the park reopened just before 5:30 Thursday evening.
