Conor McGregor Plans To "Pound Out" Nate Diaz

During an interview on "UFC Tonight" Wednesday, McGregor offered up his thoughts on how the bout will go down. But the UFC featherweight champion already has big plans after his UFC 196 fight.

On both stages, the Notorious was in vigorous form.

McGregor was then told that the fight would likely generate more than $1 billion, twice what McGregor predicted the fight would bring in a year ago.

There will be no belt or history on the line at the MGM Grand when Nate Diaz stares down the sport's leading man on Saturday night. But as expected, McGregor wasn't buying it.

"Every time, my purse rises", McGregor said. It's a normal weight I've felt. Who cares about words? [I'm] the money fight. "Obviously everybody wants that fight (with McGregor)". McGregor had been due to go toe to toe with UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, but the Brazilian was ruled out of the bout due to a broken foot. I mean Dos Anjos is an absolute bum. Come at me. But I hold the key. And he's still complaining; man up and fight.

Nate Diaz says Conor McGregor might "murk" him? "This is the numbers and straps life. It is me that holds the key to that fight", replied McGregor. He's talked a fair bit. "I could become that solid block at 170 and if I'm that block at 170, I'm happy to go to 185", he said. Now all of a sudden, he's a scared little brother of some sorts.

"Let me see someone who stands bomb, gear up and fight and make some noise". How many times has he had this swagger about him [in the past]?

Things got quite heated when they met at a press conference in California last week.

"He shouldn't have said anything".

He said making the weight is less the issue than the level of competitor he believes is waiting for him there.

"He was complaining and moaning...he says "I can not make 155 make it 160"...160?" But if we fought, I'd beat him.

"I'm open-minded, I love competition and I love fighting".

"I'm open to the discussion". I don't see nothing appealing. But I do like Robbie.

Packed like sardines into the venue, it wasn't long before the first chorus of "Olé Olé Olé" began from the small but vocal coterie of Irish fans, who came from Derry and Boston and NY to cheer him on. But, as he noted, chances are we're not going to see McGregor shooting a bunch of double legs on Saturday. All of the belts, we'll see'.

Jon Jones will be back in the Octagon next month after a year away dealing with legal issues.

"He's not", asserted McGregor. "Maybe Jon and Mighty Mouse (Demetrious Johnson) is 10". That's where I feel. This is just another day. Did I wait? No. I took the (Dennis) Siver fight.
